First European Network for LOKAL in Świdnica, Poland.

Looking back on at the First European Network meeting for the ‘LOKAL’ project which took place last week between the 21st-24th April 2026 in Świdnica, Lower Silesia, Poland.

The European Cultural Foundation (ECF) has partnered with the German Federal Cultural Foundation and the Federal Agency for Civic Education (bpb) to launch ‘LOKAL’ – a new programme for culture and public engagement.

This event brought together cultural practitioners, public partners, and philanthropic organizations to discuss the development of a solidarity coalition for cultural initiatives in smaller towns & communities across Europe.

On 23rd April, ARC Managing Director Davinia Galea gave a workshop entitled ‘Turning cultural ideas into financially viable and sustainable projects’ as part of the events Culture Lab: Skills for Impact programme.

The LOKAL project represents a significant step in developing a network of cultural practitioners focused on the unique challenges of the European communities that reside outside major metropolitan areas.
