Launch of Cultural Strategy for Rabat, Città Victoria 2026–2035

Last week, the Cultural Strategy for Rabat, Città Victoria 2026–2035 was officially launched at the Banca Giuratale.

ARC Research & Consultancy was commissioned by the Victoria Local Council to develop the strategy as a long-term framework for strengthening the cultural development of Gozo’s capital city. The strategy also provides an important foundation for Victoria’s candidature for the title of European Capital of Culture 2031, aligning the city’s cultural ambitions with a wider programme of European cooperation, participation and long-term legacy.

At the launch, Mayor Brian Azzopardi emphasised how the strategy reinforces Victoria’s journey towards the European Capital of Culture title, while providing a clear roadmap for the city’s cultural development in the years ahead.

The strategy was developed by members of the ARC Research & Consultancy team, led by Dr Samuel Mallia as Lead Researcher, with contributions from Elena Cardona, Davinia Galea, Elaine Falzon, Caldon Mercieca and Mireille Camilleri. International consultancy was provided by Cristina Farinha.

Sincere appreciation is also extended to all governing entities, cultural institutions, collaborators, artists and residents who participated in the consultation process and generously shared their perspectives, experiences and aspirations for the future of Rabat, Città Victoria’s cultural and creative sectors.
