This research project consisted of a mapping of arts festivals in the Maltese
islands, looking at their short-, medium- and long-term challenges with a
focus on upskilling and reskilling, sustainable development, and the digital
and green transition. It also enabled the groundwork for a European
proposal aimed at enhancing the level of collaboration, engagement, and
sharing of resources within ARC’s network of Hubs and Collective Associate
Members (CAMs) of the European Festivals Association. Research findings
were shared in a workshop with localfestival representatives in February
2023. The project was supported by Arts Council Malta’s Research &
Development Scheme.
